7 TIPS TO KEEP YOUR UNDERWEAR FRESH FEAT. MATT CRAWFORD

How do you wash your underwear? Seems straightforward enough, doesn't it? The truth is, you probably haven't put a whole lot of thought or importance into this, and that is entirely understandable. I mean, with today's hectic on the go lifestyle, who has the time to do anything? Let alone how to maintain one's underwear. Most of us don't think twice when doing the laundry. Everything goes into the same load at whatever the default settings are set on. What is wrong with that, you ask? Simply washing your underwear with the rest of the load will eventually make them fall apart faster, tear, fade and stretch out.

HAND OR GENTLE WASH IN COLD WATER

I get it; we don’t have the time to hand wash each piece. So if you’re going to use the machine, wash it on the delicate cycle and use a wash bag. Just make sure to wash in cold water, as hot water wears out the fabric and elasticity, especially in the waistband.

USE GENTLE DETERGENT AND WASH INSIDE OUT

Use a colour safe detergent and do not bleach, unless you like that washed out, “I’ve had my underwear for 20 years look’. Also, turn your underwear inside out when washing; this will keep your underwear looking new and fresh.

HANG DRY IN SHADE AND CUT LOOSE THREADS

Air-drying your underwear in the shade will significantly increase the longevity of your underwear. Like hot water, high temperatures from the dryer or iron or even the sun will wear out the fabric and elasticity much faster. This may seem like a tedious thing to do, but you’ll thank me later.

Cut those loose threads and remove those lint and pill balls. This will keep them from catching onto anything else and make them look and feel brand new.
